Show gridlines in excel for mac

The Excel 'File>Page Setup>Sheet>Print' option has 'Gridlines' checked. The Excel View Preference's Window options has 'Show Gridlines' checked, with Some background: I have a 2013 MacBook Pro with Excel for Mac 2011 Version 14.7.7 (170905). This topic has been raised before, and not satisfactorily answered in my opinion.
